Malaria is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality among Ugandans. The government of Uganda and partners invests millions of dollars every year in the prevention and treatment of malaria. The US government’s President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI) contributes to the reduction of the malaria morbidity and mortality in Uganda by providing free artemether/lumefantrine 20/120mg oral tablets (AL), malaria rapid diagnostic tests (mRDT), artesunate 60mg injection, and long-lasting insecticide treated mosquito nets (LLIN) to the Private-Not-For-Profit (PNFP) sector.
PMI commodities are distributed through JMS to a total of 762 PNFP health facilities; this includes Bureau accredited health facilities, TASO clinics, and Uganda Community Based Health Care facilities.
